The idea

Constant innovation for the stories of tomorrow.

“Innovating for the Stories of Tomorrow” celebrates the 90th anniversary of AP’s Wirephoto service, the technology that revolutionised photojournalism by enabling news images to be transmitted globally for the first time in 1935. Created to remind viewers of The AP’s role in capturing history as it happened, while positioning the brand as a continued innovator in global journalism.

Rather than creating a purely retrospective piece, we connected The AP’s historic legacy of visual storytelling with its continued innovation today. Combining carefully restored archival photography with fluid motion design and cinematic transitions to create a seamless journey through nine decades of visual storytelling. For audiences of media professionals, storytellers, and news consumers alike, it’s both a celebration of legacy and an invitation to imagine what’s next.

Execution

Creating a seamless journey through 9 decades of visual storytelling.

Through a carefully curated mix of archival imagery, dynamic motion design, and emotive narrative, we highlighted The AP’s role in capturing some of the most defining moments in history while positioning the brand as a forward-looking leader in news and technology. With a  modern and minimal design language, historic images took center stage while using layers of typography, light effects, and atmospheric textures to evoke a sense of depth and timelessness.
